Sky commissions original drama series The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Sky has announced that they’ve commissioned The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, an eight-part Sky Original series from Left Bank Pictures (The Crown, Dept Q), based on the globally bestselling novels written by Stieg Larsson.

Described as a “bold and contemporary reimagining which brings The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo into the present”, the upcoming series is reportedly grounded in the characters and investigative DNA of Stieg Larsson’s Millennium novels, with themes that carry heightened relevance today.

This will be the third take on Stieg Larsson’s The Millennium novels, which have sold more than 100 million copies worldwide.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is produced by Left Bank Pictures. Production will commence in Spring 2026 in Lithuania.

Steve Lightfoot (The Punisher, Behind Her Eyes, Spider-Noir) and Angela LaManna (The Haunting Of Bly Manor, Behind Her Eyes) will write and executive produce the series. Executive producers also include Andy Harries, Charlotte Moore and John Phillips for Left Bank Pictures and Sam Hoyle for Sky.

The series will be available on Sky in the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.
